One of the challenges when I release any of my music is being asked to specify a genre. Or worse, "who" it is I sound like. I never know what to say because I am a bit "all over the map". In other words, I have a wide range of influences. Straight ahead rock and roll was my launching pad as it grabbed me a long time ago and it is certainly a part of my musical DNA. But so are Blues, Country, Swing, Blue Grass, Roots, Americana, Funk, World music. Any one of these (or others not named here) can creep into a song as I write and record it. Truth is I like variety. My latest Album is a good example of this. In my life music and songs have been more than just simple entertainment and fun, they've also been companions, teachers, comforters, and at times mind and attitude changers. I am grateful for all of the musicians and songwriters who have given (and continue to give )voice to some of my own questions or feelings or concerns. It is my hope that one or more of these songs of mine might do similar for you. If so, please pass it on.

"Theodore" was done in collaboration with my very good friend and former bandmate, Bob. I guess you could say it was our version of a "concept album". So, what's the concept you may ask? A middle aged man, Theodore, has been an outsider and socially awkward most of his life. He lives vicariously thru watching TV. In particular OLD TV - shows from the 1950's and 60's. This is the lens thru which he views much of the world. Eventually he begins to imagine himself as a character in these shows and as he does this his grasp on reality, which has never been very good, begins to unwind even further. The album traces this process, sometimes in a comical, tongue-in-cheek way and at other times in a sad or frightening, more heartbreaking way. But it also speaks to the ability of the human spirit to find meaning as well as ways to make sense in a world that often doesn't.
Making this album was the culmination of a dream of ours that began many years earlier.
